Tens of thousands of people with sturdy legs and a few others with stubborn suspicions converged in downtown Dallas on Thanksgiving Day – drawn by the YMCA's annual Turkey Trot and the 44th anniversary of the JFK assassination.

Going into the final stretch of the YMCA's annual Turkey Trot, runners - some with four-legged friends - neared the end of the holiday run. More than 30,000 people took part in the 5K and eight-mile runs.The two events snarled traffic and frayed nerves, but Dallas police said neither caused accidents or serious injuries.
