Science has proven that dietary supplements can play a significant role in accelerating weight loss. However, there are many reasons why a good weight-loss regimen involving supplements should help you reach your weight-loss goals, but in the end fails to live up to your expecations. Here are three things to remember before you begin taking supplements for weight loss:

You can set the proper conditions for fat loss with a variety of natural weight-loss supplements. In order for your supplement to be effective, the ingredients in the product must be bioavailable and taken in the proper dose according to instructions. You can have the best product in the world and if you don't take it properly, it will perform like a dud.

The best weight-loss supplements I've found so far are lemon juice and cinnamon. Since using these regularly, I've lost 10 pounds (about 2 months).

    Good for you, Glad!

Did you ever try green tea? The mechanism at work there is supposed to be its carb-blocking properties...

I like green tea to drink, but never found any weight-loss properties. Every metabolism is so different from others, you really have to try different things.

I hear ya, Glad. I've managed to shed about 20 pounds in the last six weeks or so, and I did it just by paying a bit more attention than I normally do to balancing calorie inputs versus outputs. (It sounds easy, but it takes a bit of self discipline...)

Hey, very good, syn. I step on the scale every morning, and, depending on whether it's up, down, or stable, I plan my day's activities and diet accordingly. I certainly don't deprive myself, because I know that doesn't work for long. I eat good, enjoyable food, but just watch portions and keep an eye on carbs.

Portion control's a big part of it. Typical restaurant portions -- especially in fast food joints -- are way out of control. Believe it or not, a normal sized value meal at McDonald's contains sufficient calories for most people's entire daily intake. And that's without going for the super-sized version.

The carbs are a bugger to stay away from, though. I love my bread and potatoes....

    *sigh*

I love them too, so it's a real delicacy when I have them. I get really good breads, so a slice is substantial.

Heh. Yeah, there's nothing like a loaf of craft bread that costs $4.00.

Slathered in real butter (none of that horrid margarine) and dipped into a bowl of New England clam chowder...Yum!

Oh, crap. I just gained three pounds...
