Ruby Chow, longtime matriarch of Seattle's Chinese-American community, has died at age 87.
Family members say the restaurateur and politician died Wednesday morning at her Seattle home of heart failure.
Chow was born in Seattle in 1920. In 1948, she and her husband opened Ruby Chow's Restaurant, a landmark that attracted celebrities and politicians. Among those who worked at her restaurant was a young Bruce Lee, the actor and martial artist.
